Owls, Owls, Owls!!

I really like owls right now for some reason. I know a real owl would eat my face off, but I can't help loving them anyway. Combine Etsy with my love of owls and you get this list of great items. These are my picks for the best owl stuff on Etsy. There are tons of great owl stuff, but these are just my favs. If you haven't been to Etsy, check it out www.etsy.com

  • From the Etsy store Hoots4U this is an adorable owl necklace. Not only is it a great necklace, it is a watch! I think it is super super cute.

  • If I had an iPhone, I would totally get this owl case from EvelynX. This shop has several cute owl things and you can even get an owl case custom made.

  • From Mytinystar is this adorable pattern to sew your own owl. There is even an owl pattern that hold baby owls! BABY owls I tell you!!

My Etsy Picks!

Since "Rated R movie Night" was canceled due to some unpleasantness, I have decided to write about something else. I have an Etsy shop (well 2 Etsy shops actually). There is a link to them on the right. I have found so many great items on Etsy and the talent is amazing! I am glad there is a place to showcase all this great talent. It also gives people the chance to ask amazing crafters and artists to make them something custom and special. If you haven't been to Etsy, check it out!

Here are some standouts, in my opinion, this week from several sellers:

#1 - This handpainted locket. It is so cool and the shop has some painted with Owls! The shop is called Shoogi.

Pick #2 - From a shop called IvyBee are these great decals to put on the back of your laptop. They are especially cute with a Mac. This is my fav (of course it is a whippet)!

Pick #3 - From FurriTails shop is a hand felted fox! I have just learned about felting and I don't really understand the technique. But the end product is so cool. This is so adorable!

Don't forget to check out my shop! http://www.etsy.com/shop/WantedCreatures to see my offering of sock creatures.

Friday Night.... Rated R Movie Night!

Okay the movies don't always have to be rated R. On Friday nights our son spends the night at grandma's house, so we get a movie weekly that is not family friendly and try to watch it together on Friday nights. I thought it would be fun to share our thoughts on some of our movie choices. I will start with the movies we watched the last two fridays. There might be spoilers below so....consider yourself warned...

Inglorious Bastards - This movie was extremely violent and you had to read a whole lot of subtitles. Brad Pitt's Tennessee accent was annoying and movies about WWII are usually a downer. And in Quinten Tarantino fashion (spoiler alert) almost everyone dies. Jeff on the other hand loved parts of it (classic boy). Brad Pitt's accent did annoy Jeff too though.

Drop Dead Gorgeous - This is a "mockumentary" about a small town beauty pagent. It has a very young Kirsten Dundst, (pre-creepy) Denise Richards and (pre-chunky) Kirsty Alley. I thought it was super funny and wrong on so many levels. The highlight is when Denise Richards does a talent in which she performs with a life size doll of Jesus on the cross. In true "mockumentary" style, this one was silly and super fun.

Random Acts of Kindness

I was reading something today that said it is national "Random Acts of Kindness" month. I haven't heard that there was a month dedicated to this. But it got me thinking about daily gratitude, don't worry I won't go into a long piece about gratitude (it will be a short piece). To me Kindness and Gratitude go hand in hand. I don't think you can have one without the other. So forget that it is "Random Acts of Kindness" month, just be grateful for the kindness you have been shown and show kindness to others....everyday....period.

Side note: I know I am not kind everyday, but that is the goal! These 3 boys are the reason I stay so pleasant! (haha)

Puppy vs. Kitty

I know I write a lot about my puppy, so please forgive and indulge me for a few minutes. In my adult life, I have only had cats. I am a total cat person and would have tons of them if I could. I thought "how different can a puppy be than a kitty?" Here are the highlights so far!

  • a dog will perform for treats, a cat never thinks any treat is worth performing.
  • a cat is discrete in its bathroom habits, she will cleanly cover up any evidence because she is far too dignified to relieve herself in public. A dog however, goes to the bathroom anywhere and everywhere. The more witnesses the better! "Hey group of random people, I think I will poop right in front of you and then embarrass my owner by making her pick it up. Again, in front of you!" You would never catch a cat just crapping on the sidewalk.
  • If you put a collar and leash on a dog, he is very happy and willing to start on an adventure. You put a collar and leash on a cat and the cat loses the ability to move. The cat goes into sudden paralysis and falls over in a stunned state.
  • Dogs like to wear clothes and seem to enjoy people looking at them. Cat on the other hand has a similar reaction to wearing a leash (see above).
  • A dog will run up to the dog lover of the group and enjoy being basked in attention. A cat will ignore the cat lover of the group and proceed to share her space with the cat hater/allergy sufferer of the group.
If you have some comparisons, feel free to share.

Puppy Hour

Every night my puppy decides to have "puppy hour". It is an hour in which he is extremely naughty and very hyper. He uses the furniture as his personal gymnasium and my arm as his favorite chew toy. He has also become a thief! Devo and the cat have become organzied during puppy hour to figure out how to steal food. They use a distraction/smash and grab strategy. Push puppy away, turn around, a cat is drinking your milk. Grab cat put her down, turn around, puppy has run off with your grilled cheese sandwich.

Snapped some quick pics of me trying to control the puppy during puppy hour! Hope you enjoy.
